Rare Earth Phosphate Proton conductors
Investigators: De Jonghe Research Group (in collaboration with Reimer NMR Group in Chemical Engineering and P.Ross Electrochemistry Group from LBNL)
Transmission electron microscopy image of a novel composite La-Ca-Sr metaphosphate proton conductor prepared by crystallization of the corresponding glass. Material of this type may one day enable novel fuel cells that can use hydrogen or biomass-derived fuels. The inset shows the proton path based on first principles computations.
