Applicants whose native language is not English, and who have received a degree from an institution in which English is not the official language, are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). To be considered for admissions, your most recent minimum score must be at least 570 for the paper-based test or at least 230 for the computer-based test (CBT) or 68 on the internet-based test (iBT; 18 Writing, 17 Speaking, 16 Listening, 17 Reading.).
Tests taken before June 2006 will not be accepted even if your score was reported to Berkeley. Official scores are required. The institution code for Berkeley is 4833.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): As an exception, you can submit scores from the Academic Modules of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum acceptable score on the IELTS must be at least 7 on your most recent exam.
