Instruction and research in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering are supported by excellent and extensive facilities. They are located in the Hearst Memorial Mining Building on the campus, in the Materials and Chemical Sciences Division along with the National Center for Electron Microscopy, the Advanced Light Source, and the Environmental Energy Technologies Division of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.
