The Omega Directive ;-) The making of a THz sub-atomic microscope

This page is intended to explain the new THz technologies used in the Voyager universe. If you read through you find that the Omega molecule seems to have a resonance at 1.68 THz which can be used to stabilize it.

Janeway: The (omega) molecule was first synthesized over a hundred years ago (in 2274), by a Starfleet physicist named Ketteract. He was hoping to develop an inexhaustible power source.

Doctor: How are you feeling, Sir?
Allos: Better, thank you.
Doctor: Are you comfortable enough to speak to this individual?
Doctor: (to 7 of 9) Keep it brief.
7 of 9: How many of the molecules were you able to synthesize?
Allos: Two hundred million...? I'm not certain...
7 of 9: What is the iso-frequency of your containment field?
Allos: 1.68 THz. We used the molecules' own resonance to calculate the field.
7 of 9: That should've been enough to stabilize them.
Allos: Obviously, it wasn't.
7 of 9: Obviously. But your approach is innovative... perhaps I can adapt your technique, and improve upon it. You will assist me.

7 of 9: Particle 010. The Borg designation for what you call Omega. Every Drone is aware of its existence... we were instructed to assimilate it at all costs.
7 of 9: It is... perfection. The molecules exist in a flawless state... infinite parts functioning as one.
Chakotay: Like the Borg...
7 of 9: Precisely. I am no longer Borg... but I still need to understand that perfection. Without it, my existence will never be complete.

Now the actual machine !!!
The Omega molecules are enclosed in a containment chamber irradiated by 1.68 THz and eventually form a crystal like structure of particles 010.
