SERDAR AKSU: ABOUT ME
I am originally from Turkey. I received my B.Sc.degree in Mining Engineering at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey in June 1992. After working as a control engineer (Nurol Construction Company, in Gumushane) and as a teaching/research assistant ( Suleyman Demirel University, in Isparta), I started studying on my M.S. degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO in 1994 and completed it in 1996. My M.S. thesis was on the “The Role of Lattice Heterogeneity and Roughness in the Establishment of Critical Surface Tension of Wetting of Naturally-Hydrophobic Solid Substrates”.
I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley . My Ph.D. topic is "The Role of Complexing Agents in the Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) of Copper Thin Films". My advisor is Prof. Fiona M. Doyle. My research project is a part of the Small Feature Reproducibility (SFR) program under the supervision of Prof. Costas J. Spanos in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I also heavily collaborate with Prof. David Dornfeld in Mechanical Engineering and his students in the Laboratory for Manufacturing Automation (LMA).
