Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and Oxygen Separation Membranes

Our research encompasses the fabrication of thin film ceramic membranes for use in fuel cells and oxygen separation membranes. We primarily work with yttria stabilzed zirconia but have also worked with doped ceria and a host of other oxygen conductors. We employ a variety of fabrication techniques including: electrophoretic deposition, electrochemical deposition, vacuum infiltration, and centrifugal casting. Cells produced in our group have broken records for power density and continuing research shows much promise.
