Geisler Memorial Award of the American Society for Metals : Given "in recognition of the recipient's contributions to the understanding of fracture and corrosion of metals and, in particular, for his outstanding contribution to the clarification of the mechanisms of intergranular corrosion and intergranular stress corrosion cracking in duplex stainless steels."
1981 Marcus A. Grossman Young Author Award of the American Society for Metals: Presented annually for the best paper in the ASM Metallurgical Transactions by an author under 35 years of age. Paper entitled "Influence of Carbon Content and Ferrite Morphology on the Sensitization of Duplex Stainless Steel."
